Happiness in Action: Happiness Club WPEC-TV CBS12 News Studio Tour
Last December, members of the Happiness Club had the privilege of touring the WPEC-TV CBS12 News studio, thanks to the generosity of the station’s leadership and the wonderful Christine Gilberti, who made the visit possible.
We were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how local news comes together (and, of course, donuts!), with an opportunity to see the studio and learn more about what goes into bringing the day’s stories to viewers. The visit also gave us something even more valuable: time with the head of the station, Vincent Sollecito, who sat down with our group, listened to our questions, and welcomed our suggestions for how local news can continue to serve Palm Beach County.
In an era when social media increasingly shapes how we receive information, the experience was a timely reminder of the importance of local journalism.
While national headlines often capture our attention, there is so much happening closer to home that deserves our interest. From local government and community initiatives to the people and organizations making a difference, local news keeps us informed about the issues that directly affect our lives and the place we call home.
CBS12 plays an important role in that connection, staying close to the people, developments, and conversations shaping our community. It was especially meaningful to see the thought and effort that go into keeping Palm Beach County informed and engaged, as well as to have the opportunity to share our own perspectives on the role local news plays in our daily lives.
A heartfelt thank-you to Vincent Sollecito, Taylor Lasota, Mike Magnoli, Jim Grimes, Christine Gilberti, and the entire CBS12 team for their hospitality, generosity, and willingness to spend time with us. It was an engaging and memorable visit, and a wonderful opportunity for our Happiness Club members to learn more about an essential part of our local community.
